CHARACTER HISTORY
(Note: Extrapolation/educated guesses will be italicized and underlined for clarity.)
Flora is a minority of her group of friends in that next to nothing of her history has been fleshed out. She has one confirmed sibling, Miele (or Rose, in another version), whom she very clearly loves, but nothing on her other family has been revealed. She presumably has parents, as she and her friend, Tecna, were the only ones to go home for the Day of the Rose (a holiday where people celebrate their parents) during the break, while the others stayed behind because their parents were either busy, divorced, dead, something altogether and combinations thereof. It could then be said that Flora led a fairly stable, happy childhood, since the series has taken the time to depict the conflicts the other girls have had with their own where applicable, and there has been no depiction of any such friction with Flora's family, not even a passing mention.
At sixteen, Flora left her home, the nature planet of Linphea, to attend Alfea, School for Fairies, one of three schools in the realm of Magix that surround Lake Chrysalis. The others being Cloudtower, an all-girls school for witches, and Redfountain, an all-boys school for the Specialists, boys trained in many manners of combat and military-style tactics. She made quick friends with her dormmates, Stella, Musa, Tecna, and Bloom. Bloom, at their first meeting, introduced herself as Princess Varanda of Vallisto at Stella's insistence, since she'd lived her life as an ordinary girl who'd only just recently discovered that she had magical powers, and didn't have a place in the school as a result. Varanda was going to be home-schooled instead and had given Stella a letter to inform Miss Faragonda, the headmistress, which Stella, ah, neglected to pass on.
Flora and her friends later met Griselda, head of discipline, and were quickly made aware of the Code of Behaviour and the punishments for breaking any rule in them: 1) You must follow all of the rules in the code of behaviour; 2) No unsupervised magic at any time 3) Stay away from the witches of Cloudtower. There is no punishment for breaking the last rule, as there is nothing she could have done that would have been half as terrible as what the witches would have, should any fairy be found there.
As their luck would have it, while enjoying themselves downtown, Icy, Darcy, and Stormy, three witches from Cloudtower calling themselves the Trix, ran into the group, seeking to steal Stella's magical ring which they believed themselves to contain the legendary Dragon Fire, an immense power and the source of creation for the entire magical universe. Bloom's true identity was revealed, and though the witches were unsuccessful, it would be first of many skirmishes between them and the Winx as they tried to steal the Dragon Fire.
Stella was kidnapped and held hostage during one such encounter with the Trix. There'd been an illusion spell cast at the location, a ruse Flora had uncovered when she communed with a seemingly healthy tree and realized that it was dead and had been for a very long time. Stella had earlier entrusted her ring to Bloom for safekeeping, who then gave it up to the witches for her safe return. After many attempts at trying to unleash the its power, it became apparent to the Trix that the ring was not host to the Dragon Fire after all, and it was in fact Bloom who had it.
Even without the Dragon Fire, Stella's ring was still a powerful item, and without it, she was at an incredible disadvantage and needed it back. Flora, despite being what Stella would later call a “goody-goody” (a claim she did not refute), came to view her friends as a family that she'd do near anything for. Though she normally adhered to the rules and did not like to cause trouble, when the group had decided to effectively risk their lives to retrieve Stella's ring from the witches, and then later broke into their book chamber to find information on Bloom's past, she wholeheartedly supported them. She also did not later regret it when they were eventually found out by both Griselda and Miss Faragonda and had their powers revoked as punishment (though she was worried about being behind in their classes.)
Knowing now that Bloom had the fire, the witches had planned a trap for her, intending to render her emotionally vulnerable before stealing the flame away from her. By complete coincidence, a kind witch named Mirta had overheard their plot and warned Bloom. When she was caught by the witches, she was turned into a pumpkin for the trouble she caused them. Flora took her into her care after that, not at all minding that Mirta was a witch, seeing her for the good and selfless soul that she was.
Flora tirelessly tried to break the difficult spell to change Mirta back into a girl, all the while caring for her during the interim when every attempt was met with failure. This marked the beginning of a deep bond between the two. The fact that the witches would do something so cruel to someone undeserving on a whim angered her immensely to the point that Bloom expressed concern when Flora claimed she hated the witches, having never heard the normally accepting and kind girl use the word “hate” before.
The Trix were eventually successful at stealing the Dragon Fire from Bloom and came back to Magix with a vengeance, taking over Cloudtower, removing the headmistress from power and imprisoning their fellow witches as payback for having being expelled for disgracing it with their repeated failures. With their newly gained powers, they summoned the Army of Decay, a near invincible force of monsters that would consume everything in their path, and had it attack both Alfea and Redfountain.
Flora carried doubts over whether or not she'd be able to change Mirta back, but she persevered and finally managed it during a lull between attack waves. With the combined powers of the fairies, specialists, and witches who'd managed to escape and allied themselves with the fairies, the Trix were defeated and sent to the Fortress of Light, a boot camp in which everything was sickeningly cute and pleasant.
They were going to be absolutely miserable there.
Second year opened with the girls returning from summer vacation and encountering an exhausted and terrified fairy named Layla who had tried to rescue her pixie friends from Lord Darkar who'd been keeping them all captive. Layla only managed to rescue one pixie, Piff, the pixie who she was bonded to.
Lord Darkar was seeking the Codex, a magical artifact that would open a gate to the realm of Realix, a place from which the entire universe can be controlled. The Codex had long ago been broken into four pieces, with each piece having been hidden away at Redfountain, Alfea, Cloudtower, and Pixie Village for safe keeping. While the other three locations were known to pretty much everyone, Pixie Village is hidden away; Darkar captured the pixies in a bid to coerce them into telling him where their home was, so that he might steal their piece of the Codex. To accomplish his goals, Darkar released the Trix from their imprisonment to serve him, and gave them each a Gloomix, an object that would magnify their power.
The Winx eventually rescued the pixies from Shadowhaunt, Darkar's lair, and bonded with them. Flora bonded with Chatta, the pixie of gossip and chatter. An eager, headstrong, determined, and extremely extroverted individual, Chatta was a natural complement to Flora's personality and offered her advice and encouragement whenever she thought it was needed, and did so even when it wasn't.
Flora also encountered Helia, an ex-student of Redfountain who dropped out as it ran counter to his pacifist ideals, though before doing so, he was said to be the best student in attendance. Attracted to his artistic leanings and his sensitive, calm demeanor, Flora developed a crush on Helia, but couldn't tell him out of cultural reasons (boys make the first move on her planet), shyness, and the fear of having her feelings rebuffed. She instead pleaded for Layla's help to find out if Helia was interested in her. Layla's somewhat disgruntled acceptance earned Flora's undying gratitude and the two became very close friends. Layla, after snooping around Helia's room, did find a draft of a poem written about Flora. Even knowing that Helia had to have had some interest in her, Flora still could not have brought herself to admit her feelings for him, but she found some seed of courage, enough to have left him a secret gift: magical white roses.
Meanwhile, The Trix were virtually unstoppable with their new Gloomix powers, and they managed to overwhelm each of the schools and steal their guarded piece of the Codex. Using the help of an inside man posing as a beloved professor, Avalon, at Alfea, Darkar also managed to secure the elusive Pixie Village Codex after a brutal assault. He then attempted a ritual to unite each quadrant to open the gate to Realix, but was unsuccessful as the ritual required a balance of darkness and light. He came to the conclusion that he'd need Bloom's Dragon Fire to act as a counter to his Shadow Fire and sought to capture her. The loss of all the Codex pieces left the Winx more angry, bitter and disheartened, and they often lashed out at one another out of their frustration, some going as far to doubt their ability to remain effective as a team. Miss Faragonda, seeing how exhausted and very much in shambles the group dynamic was, took drastic measures.
She sent the Winx on vacation.
Figuring it was the best way for them to build the team back together, the headmistress sent the Winx, with the specialists accompanying, to a resort realm where magic was severely dampened at absolute best, and completely ineffectual for the remainder of the spectrum. There were concerns of the Trix finding them, but the same conditions that would limit the girls would also apply to the Trix. If they should run into the witches, though, the girls would have to rely on their wits, teamwork, and ingenuity in new ways instead of their magic. They would indeed do this when the Trix eventually attacked. Using what was available and improvising with Flora's instruction, everybody contributed into making a giant hang glider that they all used to get down the mountain. Having worked together so quickly and harmoniously renewed their faith and friendship in one another.
Their vacation ended, but Flora suffered some of her own doubts and insecurities, having been the only fairy who hadn't yet earned her Charmix.
Opportunities came and went for Flora to confess to Helia, meanwhile, but she either passed up on every one or went through the trouble of engineering her own only to have hesitated at the deciding moment.
After managing to restore the tree of life and heal the pixies, Flora felt elated and capable. Chatta, perhaps sensing that this was a prime opportunity, encouraged her to confess to Helia as he was leaving. After going through the trouble of catching his attention (seriously, by the time she managed to reach him, he was already in his ship. Hovering quite a few feet off the ground. And her voice managed to carry over the noise of the engines) she stuttered and choked, and Helia once again turned to leave. In that moment, Flora decided to take the plunge and confessed her love to Helia, who in turn immediately returned her feelings. For her efforts in healing the tree of life and for admitting how she felt, Flora earned her Charmix.
Using the impostor Avalon, Darkar managed to capture Bloom, and cast a spell on her, turning her evil. He then opened the way to Realix, but before he could manage to tap its power, Sky told her that he loved her, breaking the spell. Flora and the others defeated Darkar with their Charmix Convergence.
(Note: There's not all that all much happening for Flora in the development area during this next arc, save two events, so I'll be noting it in point form)
-The Trix were banished to the Omega Dimension for their repeated transgressions, a frozen prison for the very worst criminals in the magical community. It was a move that was made with, perhaps, a serious lack of forethought. Icy soon broke free from her frozen prison (who did not see that coming, I mean, really), and freed the others. She also freed Valtor an evil wizard who was, in part, responsible for the Destruction of Bloom's birth planet, Sparx. He swore revenge against the ones responsible for putting him there years ago, The Company of Light.
-The Winx started their third year, and were informed of the next transformation they had to attain, which was called Enchantix. It was gained from saving someone from your home planet in an act of self-sacrifice.
-Valtor sought to become the Supreme Wizard of the Universe, and stole magic and spell from other planets to do so, often throwing them into chaos and disarray in the process.
-The Company of Light was Comprised of Headmistress Faragonda, Professor Saladin of Redfountain, and Professor Griffin of Cloudtower. After imprisoning Professor Griffin and enslaving the witches,Valtor later arrived at Alfea and did battle with Faragonda. She was defeated and turned into a tree, but remained alive.
-In a bid to break the spell over Ms. Faragonda, the Winx journey to Flora's home planet, Linphea, to seek guidance. Led by Flora's little sister, Miele, they encounter an elder spirit who informed them all of the Black Willow, a tree who eternally sheds tears of longing for her sister who'd burnt to ashes long ago. The tears had powerful properties that reversed the effects of time, and in so having, they hoped to revert Faragonda to before Valtor's spell was cast. After coming to a junction in their journey to the Willow, Flora sent Miele home. While she was genuinely understanding of Miele's desire to help, and not at all condescending, the risks were simply too far great to allow her to continue on. (Miele's around eight-ten years old, maybe, it should be noted)
-They were followed by the Trix, however, and a battle broke out between them. The Trix lora was knocked down, and the Trix were set to deliver a blow, but Miele, who hadn't gone home, intervened and was knocked into the river. In her anger, Flora struck the back at the Trix and quickly dove into the poisoned water to rescue her sister. Too weak to have saved herself, it seemed as though she was going to drown, but she'd earned her Enchantix with her act of self-sacrifice for her sister. Once she'd surfaced, she healed the tree and its tears with her fairy dust. The Willow then grabbed the Trix and tossed them into its river. Regressed to their middle school years, the Trix fled.
-Despite Miele having returned against Flora's wishes, she bore her no ill will at all, thanking her for saving her life and telling her that she'd been very brave. The Winx departed with the tears and restored Faragonda.
-The Winx learned that Valtor has a part of the Dragon Fire, endowed by the Ancestresses. In order to counter his power, the Winx went to the Golden Kingdom, a place in another dimension entirely to retrieve the Water Stars, artifacts of power that contained the power of the Water Dragon. At the birth of the magical universe, there had been not one, but two dragons, one of fire, and the other of water. Due to the natural opposite of its power, the Water Dragon's essence had been gathered into the Stars and sealed away to another dimension as a preventative measure against the inevitable universal chaos and disaster that would have occurred with their continued coexistence. They were guarded by Arcadia, the first fairy in existence and awarded to the Winx after those who embarked on the mission passed her tests.
-The Winx faced Valtor, and Bloom was on the precipice of destroying him with her Water Star, but Valtor tricked her, claiming to have absorbed her birth parents and that ending him would mean that they'd meet the same fate. He then made his escape, and soon after, it was discovered that his claim was a lie.
-Valtor, greatly weakened by the earlier battle, reverted to his true form, that of a demon resembling a gargoyle. He then used the Spell of the Elements in retaliation, sending tornadoes to Redfountain, flooding Cloudtower, causing earthquakes in Magix, and setting fire to Alfea. The Winx and other students had an early warning for the blazes, though, as it started in the forest, which Flora had detected through her bond with nature, at great pain to her. The Winx later tracked Valtor down to the now emptied lake by the school, and, using the Stars once again against him, they able to release the stolen magic, sending it back to their rightful worlds. Valtor managed to recall the Spell of the Elements, however, which returned the water that had been flooding Cloudtower, to the lake bed, seemingly drowning him in the process.
-Not quite.
-Bloom eventually faced Valtor on her own, casting a spell to project her spirit into him and using her fairy dust to extinguish his Dragon Fire, destroying him permanently.
-Flora later attended her graduation ceremony, and upon having received her diploma became further connected to nature, with her reach having extended to pretty much everywhere in the universe. She also became a Guardian Fairy of Linphea, her homeworld.
-Months later, she and her friends visited Bloom and accompanied her on her journey to find out about her birth parents. The Ancestresses are defeated, and Sparx and all of its inhabitants are restored, including Bloom's birth parents.
(end of notes.)
The Winx were invited back to Alfea as teachers and treated like celebrities by the students for having reached their Enchantix, and were to perform a demonstration of their capabilities, but a cruel prank caused during the festivities put Flora in the infirmary.
The real prankster, Clarice, framed her friend, Alice for the misdeed and Alice was to be expelled the following day. Though injured and well within her right to be, Flora wasn't angry at all with Alice and instead wanted to understand why she'd done it, and went to look for her. Her search was interrupted by four men calling themselves the wizards of the Black Circle who'd appeared looking for Bloom. They attacked Flora when she wouldn't give up her friend and still hadn't even when her life was on the line. The other Winx eventually arrived, but proved no match for the fairy hunters and they managed to capture Bloom into their circle, who they believed to be the last fairy on Earth. Unbeknownst to the fairy hunters, Bloom was, in fact, a native of Sparks, and the circle rejected her.
When news of their defeat reached the student body of Alfea, they stopped pining for the Winx's attention. Flora's confidence also took a huge dive as a result of the loss, and she began to question her capabilities and limitations, after having been through so much, and yet being so easily overcome.
The Wizards, not having found their target, departed. Earth had been devoid of magic for centuries, and the cause was discovered to be the wizards. With the end game of world domination, they captured every fairy there, stole their magic to feed their own, and sealed them away, save one. In their absence, fairies became the stuff of myths and bedtime stories, and humans fell into disarray. Should the wizards retrieve the last fairy, their powers would grow astronomically, and Earth would be at their complete mercy.
The Winx's next mission was clear, they needed to find the last fairy before the wizard's did, and get humans to believe in magic again. What they hadn't known, however, was that the specialists and Nabu followed them as well, at Faragonda's request. While Faragonda understood the humiliation the Winx had suffered, they would still need all the help they could get. The Winx soon departed for Earth, and after several stumbles with employment, managed to secure a temporary position at a toy store, sorting stock, and marking toys headed for the incinerator. Flora didn't want for the toys to end up destroyed, just because they were a little flawed, so she cast a spell that brought them to life. Literal life. They weren't simply animated, but now living, breathing creatures that could also fly.
The girls each had a pet as a result, but there were several left over, so they opened a fairy pet shop, giving the pets for adoption to anyone who wanted one, and could be picked up in-store, or downloaded straight to their home from the website. Each of them assumed responsibility for a set of services for their care. There were several purposes for this venture: taking care of the extra pets, relieving the financial burden off Bloom's parents, who'd been putting all six girls up until they started looking for jobs and moved out, most importantly, it was a way to introduce magic back into the life of humans.
One person in particular attempted to download many pets, and while Flora assumed that it was an animal lover, the girls all decided to pay the mystery owner a visit in case they were selling the pets for their own personal gain. It turned out to be Roxy, a bartender at the Fruitti Music Bar (yes, that's what it's really called), a place they'd hung out at before and believed a girl there to be the last fairy. (They also got into another losing battle with the wizards.) Roxy owned another pet, a dog that was present and angry at the Winx for being there. She calmed him down, emitting a magical energy as she did so, and the girls realized that they'd found the last fairy on Earth. For real this time.
Bloom and Flora tried to explain to Roxy what she was, but having none of it and believing the girls to have mental problems, she fled, eventually ending up in at a construction site and into the waiting hands of the wizards. The Winx were not far behind behind, though, and did their best to defend Roxy from them, but this would be a repeat of previous battles.
That was until Roxy started believing in fairies. (She didn't clap, though)
Having the energy they needed, the Winx ascended to their next transformation, Believix, and for the first time since their encounter, they were able to go toe-to-toe with the wizards, though they hadn't managed to defeat them outright. Believix powers weren't enough their own, it was discovered, they had to convince people to believe in magic and in them in order to increase their power.
Flora and the others headed to a ranch that Roxy had been to many times as a child, and was now appearing in her dreams. The farm had new ownership, however, a bitter and hateful man named Batson who cut down all the trees and neglected the once lush land. This greatly upset Flora, who could feel its pain. The wizards had followed them and attacked Batson, and a battle ensued. Roxy took refuge in a barn, and the Winx later followed her. It was in there they came across the White Circle, a powerful object, and the reason why Roxy had been dreaming of the ranch. Ogron sought to take it, but he could not touch it. Roxy used her powers grew tremendously, and she was able to overcome the wizards single-handedly.
After being revived by Bloom, Flora used her therapeutic power, Breath of the World on mister Batson, restoring the land to its former splendor and opening his eyes to the beauty around him. Mister Batson realized the destruction that he caused, and promised to take better care of his land, and mend his ways with people. He believed in fairies and thanked them and Flora bore him no ill will for his past mistakes, happy to see the change in the man.
When trying to learn more about the White Circle, a voice called out to Roxy from within it, and using its power, completely took her over. It was a Major Fairy name Nebula, and using Roxy as a host, she hunted down the Wizard of the Black Circle to their hideout, swearing revenge for her imprisonment that of her sister fairies. Realizing that Roxy wasn't acting like herself, Flora and the others followed her and a fight broke out between all three parties. Nebula-as-Roxy had weakened the wizards considerably with her strength, but before she could try to finish them off, they fled. Enraged that she'd been denied her revenge and blaming them for it, she attacked the Winx. They managed to break her control on Roxy using their shields in a convergence.
Roxy later became a fairy, and Flora counseled her on an aspect of her powers, advising her to get in contact with her surroundings and use nature's energy alongside her own.
The Winx continued to battle the Wizards and save people, inspiring them into believing in magic and their good intentions. They were growing considerably stronger, while the wizards grew weaker. Fearing this trend and the possibility of new fairies, they hatched a scheme to make people hate them, by turning girls who hated and were jealous of the Winx into fairylike beings. They caused havoc and misery and tainted people's opinion of the Winx and magic. The Winx managed to reverse the damages when they saved the people, and defeated the false fairies.
After Roxy's episode with the White Circle, Bloom had since hung onto it, and in trying to uncover more about it and the Earth Fairies, they journeyed to Tir Na Nog, the fairies' hidden realm. They defeated the Dark Guardian, a safeguard created by the wizards to entrance, attack and capture anyone in the area. Roxy, after overcoming her fears of the Circle, used it to free the Earth Fairies that had been imprisoned in their own realm for centuries.
Grateful to them for their freedom, Morgana, the Fairy Queen, invited the Winx to join her court.
She also invited them to join her and her warrior fairies in seeking revenge against the wizards, as wells as the humans who ruined the Earth and stopped believing in them. In so doing, they deprived the fairies of much of their power, leaving them helpless against the wizards and condemning them to oblivion.
Yeah, the Winx didn't like that part, so much. Kind of came as a shock, actually.
The desperately tried to dissuade Morgana from her plan, which angered the fairy queen. She would do no such thing, but she allowed the girls to leave, considering their collective debt to be paid in full and promised that they would be enemies if and when they crossed paths again.
The news came as a blow to them all, but especially to Roxy, as Morgana frequently appeared in her dreams, believed in her, and was much kinder. Flora encouraged Roxy, telling her to be strong and that they'd overcome this, together. It was unfortunate, but she wouldn't be deterred by this, and was determined to help make things right.
The girls had formed a band, for fun and as a way to support Musa, who'd been scouted by a record producer. It was during rehearsal at the bar that Diana, the Major Fairy of Nature, appeared. She offered the Winx another chance to join them, but when they refused and tried to reason with her, she ensnared them and left. Flora tried to overcome her spell with her own powers, but was unable to, until Nabu intervened and used his magic to help the girls free themselves.
Gardenia had been overrun by jungle, and monster animals and plants, as a way of taking back what humans took from nature. While the Winx combated the monsters in the city, the Specialists and Nabu battled Diana, only to lose against her and be captured. Knowing that the Winx couldn't defeat Diana as they were, Faragonda contacted the Ethereal Fairies, beings that were ageless and pure. They had powers at their disposal called the Gifts of Destiny, one of which they gave to the Winx. It was the Gift of Wisdom, Sophix.
They traveled to Diana's realm in the Amazon, and though thriving, much of it had been destroyed. Flora was overwhelmed by the pain the forest had suffered, and fainted. Caught between the deforestors responsible and the warrior fairies who'd appeared them to stop them both, the girls transformed and used their gift. They defeated the warrior fairies and simultaneously restored the forest around them, all the while the deforestors watched, feeling remorse for what they'd done. They vowed never to treat the land in such a way and departed. There were other onlookers watching discreetly, as well. Native people of the forest that protected the forest alongside the warrior fairies.
The source of Diana's power, as well as the heart of nature, was a fragile flower, the Sacred Bud. When Stella, Tecna, and Bloom were led to it by the natives it, it was healthy. Tecna pointed out that they could destroy it to drain Diana of her powers, but one of their guides pointed out that they'd be destroying all of nature, as well. Wanting no such thing, and determined to find another way to stop Diana, they left the bud.
Flora, along with Musa and Layla were later captured during their attempt to free the boys. Diana felt the other Winx were near the source of her power, and made to leave, and using her magic, eventually caught the last girls. Flora admonished the Major Fairy, pointing out that the forest was being destroyed and that her thirst for vengeance did nothing to protect the place she so claimed to love.
It wasn't long before the employer of the earlier workers showed up, with new ones in tow. He'd ordered them to continue cutting and bulldozing. Diana herself arrived to confront them, but with every tree that fell, she and her warrior fairies grew weaker, and were able to be bound by the men.
Everyone escaped Diana's stronghold and stopped the deforestors. Diana was soon going to die and didn't care, but Bloom convinced her to carry on and gave her the energy to do so. Diana and the Winx flew to the bud to restore it, but the renewed destruction of the forest, it had begun to wilt, and was on the brink of death. Diana gave up hope, but Flora interjected, believing that all was not yet lost. Flora and her friends all joined hands, and using their powers, revitalized the Sacred Bud.
Diana witnessed for herself the Natives who lived in the fores that cared for and respected it. She was also touched by the Winx's dedication to restoring her life, power, and nature's heart when they could have simply destroyed the Sacred Bud to defeat her. She gave up seeking retribution against humans and the wizards, and promised to try and convince Morgana to do the same. Leaving to rebuild her realm with her fairies and the Natives who also called it home, she believed in humans and their capacity for goodness and change once again.
Following the mission, the Ethereal Fairies visited the girls once again to grant them the Gift of Courage, Lovix.
The Wizards showed up at the bar to surrender themselves to the Winx. They'd been hunted by the the warrior fairies relentlessly, and their comrade had taken ill in the meantime. As a symbol of their sincerity, Ogron gave Bloom the Black Circle, the source of their power and asked for their protection. The Winx took the wizards to Sybilla, the Major Fairy of Justice. Sybilla, too, had been imprisoned and freed, but did not join in the quest for vengeance, believing it to be wrong course of action. She never turned anyone away with good intentions, and her home was recognized as sacred by fairy law. The other fairies could not trespass with the intent to harm, making it a perfect safe haven for the Wizards.
Knowing that the wizards were now out of reach, Morgana sought out The Major Fairy of the North, Aurora, who suggested that they force the Winx to deliver the wizards. With Morgana's blessing, Aurora began to freeze the Earth.. Nebula appeared before the Winx, informing them of Aurora's intentions to turn the planet into a frozen wasteland, and that if they wanted to stop it, to surrender the wizards. They instead paid the North Fairy a visit, fighting their way inside her flying ice tower with their new Lovix powers.
Having no Lovix power, Roxy wasn't immune to the cold of the tower, and was in danger of losing her life. Nebula appeared again, promising to take care of Roxy if the Winx agreed to Morgana's terms. Bloom instead goaded Nebula into a duel. If Bloom won, the Earth Fairies had to cease their attempts for revenge and try the wizards in an impartial court, if Nebula did, Bloom would have to lure the Wizards out of the cave so that the fairies could destroy them. Bloom won the battle, but Nebula, unsatisfied and enraged, tried to destroy Gardenia by breaking a large section of the ice tower. Bloom managed to save it, but she exhausted herself in the process and would have fallen to her death if Roxy hadn't saved her. Roxy reminded Morgana that she needed to give up her quest for revenge, and Morgana agreed that she would, only because Roxy asked her to. Nebula was less than pleased, to say the least, and promised Morgana that she'd answer for her decision.
The Winx departed from Aurora's tower, and on their journey back, the Ethereal Fairies appeared and gave the Winx a final gift, the Dark Gift, and told they would find themselves in a position where they would might need to use it. It was capable of bringing a person back from death, which at first seemed a blessing, but more than one person might have been beyond life's threshold, and so nobody liked the responsibility of having to use it.
The Winx brought the Wizards to Tir Na Nog for their trial, save Duman whose condition was worsening. Nabu and the Specialists brought him to their apartment where the former attempted many healing spells on him. He was on the brink of success when Duman regained consciousness and attacked them all, gleefully admitting that the wizards' claim of having surrendered and reformed was a lie. Morgana required Ogron to give her the Black Circle at the trial, and when he did, it would be the end for everyone. Nabu surprised everyone when he brought the thunder and destroyed Duman completely, leaving nothing left of him. The boys all left, and headed to Tir Na Nog to warn everyone, but they would be too late.
Meanwhile, at the trial, Ogron presented the Black Circle to the Fairy Queen. The moment Morgana put the Black Circle on her finger, a powerful rift opened up, one that would not close until all the earth fairies were sucked into it. The Winx couldn't close it, an object of great power was needed, and the Black Circle had been expended to create it. Nabu arrived alongside the others, and was determined to close it himself, not allowing for the White Circle to be used, invaluable as it was as the last gate to the fairy's realm. Using his staff, a powerful magical object, he drew all the energy of the rift into it and himself, closing it. Doing so proved too much for him, and died, or fell into some sort of state of suspended animation (It's really not clear).
Reminded of the Dark Gift, Layla called out for it, but before she could take it, Ogron caught it and used it on a wilting flower, bringing it back to life. He then left, laughing.
Nebula, seeing a kindred spirit in Layla, invited her to join her against the wizards. She accepted and asked for the rest of the Winx to follow her, as well, but they refused, and tried to persuade Layla to come back with them. Layla wouldn't listen, and feeling betrayed, she cut ties to her friends.
Nebula also challenged Morgana, blaming the complete failure of the trial on her. She later staged a coup and trapped Morgana in a powerful mirror. Roxy, realizing that fairy queen was in trouble while they all mourned Nabu, went to save her with the girls. Only a Queen of Tir Na Nog could properly interact with the magical artifact, and it was revealed that Roxy was, in fact, Morgana's daughter. She took Morgana's hand and pulled her free.
They all then went to the Omega Dimension, after Layla, Nebula, and the Wizards.
